About Hanson Ranch
This ranch contains 3,629.80 acres, or roughly 5.7 square miles, and is comprised of 2,949.80 acres of deeded land and 680 acres of New Mexico state leased land. Ranches of this quality and quantity in this area of Lincoln County are very rare. This ranch is one of the largest remaining contiguous parcels in the Ruidoso Valley.
Located in the foothills of the Sacramento Mountains, this ranch offers fabulous views of Sierra Blanca to the West and the Capitan Mountains to the North. Elevation ranges from 5,580 to 6,693 feet above sea level. This ranch is a semi-arid climate, warmer than the alpine climate to the west and cooler than the desert hills to the east.
Average annual rainfall in the area is approximately 14 inches; and with plentiful sunshine, the growing season is a long seven months. Vegetation includes a variety of native grasses such as grama grass and sacaton. Tree growth includes pinon, juniper, ponderosa pine, mountain mahogany, algerita, and oak.
Ease of access and privacy make the Hanson Ranch very desirable. Access is through a gated entrance off U.S. Highway 70 approximately 9 miles west of Hondo and 17 miles east of Ruidoso. This makes the recreational community of Ruidoso about a 20-minute drive and the larger community of Roswell about an hour's drive away. Once you are through the gated entrance, you leave the busy world behind and enter a world of quiet, private beauty. No traffic noise, no light pollution, and no people..... Just you, your guests, and your wildlife!
The quality improvements on the Hanson Ranch are many. You'll find the foreman's quarters at the gated entrance to the ranch. The foreman's quarters guard the gated entrance, which further ensures privacy.
In 2008, the Hanson Ranch Headquarters were constructed. They include a sprawling 3-bedroom, 2-bath residence featuring all electric lighting, heating and cooling, a maintenance-free stucco exterior, and a lifetime Pro-Panel metal roof. Amenities include a huge gourmet kitchen with island, tall ceilings, granite countertops, Seisco tankless water heater, built-in house vacuum system, a spiral staircase, and two fireplaces.
Other improvements include a workshop and vehicle/equipment shed. Both the workshop and the vehicle/equipment shed have lifetime, Pro-Panel roofing. The workshop includes a concrete floor, overhead door, domestic water, 110 and 220 volt electrical service, and is conveniently attached to the vehicle/equipment shed.
Located on the backside of the vehicle/equipment shed is a livestock stall for weather protection. Included in this offering is all of the equipment needed to work and maintain the ranch, including a 2010 Ford 4x4 flatbed work truck with very few miles, a John Deere skid-steer track loader/utility tractor, a D-3 Caterpillar dozer, and a front-end loader. A dump truck and a host of livestock and flatbed trailers are also included along with all equipment attachments and hand tools. When you add all the existing Brangus cattle and horses, the Hanson Ranch is truly a turnkey ranch!
Water on the ranch is supplied by two water wells serving an extensive underground pipeline system that includes a water pressure system. This water system provides water to numerous tanks and troughs in the ranch's pastures. The location of these tanks and troughs promote livestock and wildlife use of virtually the entire ranch. In addition to the internal water delivery system, the Hanson Ranch also has an agreement with the Thomas Ranch to the north that provides the Hanson Ranch with additional water sources in exchange for vehicular access through the northern part of the ranch.
Wildlife is plentiful and well-managed on the ranch. It includes mule deer, elk, Barbary sheep, turkey, javelina, coyote, and mountain lion. A number of native bird species inhabit the ranch as well.
Finally, the ranch has a "picnic" location where the Rio Ruidoso runs through it! On the very southern part of the ranch, the Rio Ruidoso passes through, creating an idyllic setting. The Hanson Ranch is diverse topographically and scenically. It is unique, rare, and beautiful.
The ranch is also comparatively affordable. The Hanson Ranch is offered through New Mexico Ranch World for $3,300,000 turnkey. The owner is willing to entertain owner financing to the right buyer. Opportunities to own a ranch of this quantity and quality near the Sacramento Mountains do not present themselves very often. This one is a keeper! Call us to arrange a showing. Thanks and happy trails!
